What corneal topography measures
Topography creates a map of corneal curvature and surface shape. This can reveal regular or irregular astigmatism, asymmetry, surface distortion, or patterns that may need monitoring over time.

Corneal topography maps the shape of the cornea. It can help when vision is distorted, astigmatism appears irregular, contact lenses are uncomfortable, dry eye is affecting visual quality, or the ocular surface needs more detailed documentation.
Topography creates a map of corneal curvature and surface shape. This can reveal regular or irregular astigmatism, asymmetry, surface distortion, or patterns that may need monitoring over time.
It may be useful in patients with unexplained blur, fluctuating vision, glare, contact lens intolerance, suspected corneal irregularity, keratoconus screening needs, or symptoms where tear film instability is affecting visual quality.
Ocular surface assessment may include tear film analytics with the Oculus Keratograph 5M, including non-invasive tear break-up assessment, ocular surface imaging, and meibomian gland review when clinically relevant.
When useful, anterior segment imaging and epithelial mapping can add information about the corneal surface and front structures of the eye. These results are interpreted alongside symptoms and slit-lamp examination.
Topography is most helpful when it answers a specific question: whether the cornea is regular, whether change is present, whether ocular surface disease is affecting measurements, or whether follow-up comparison is needed.
Corneal mapping may support dry eye evaluation, red eye assessment, glare and night driving symptoms, and comprehensive eye examination.
